    The 'GOLKONDA FORT'derives its name from a Telugu Word 'GOLLA KONDA' means a shepherd hill. Originally the fort was under the Kakatiya rule. It has come under the Bahamani Sultan's rule in 1363 AD. From 1518 to 1687 the Fort was ruled by the Kutubshahi Kings. In the year 1687 Abdul Hasan Tana Shah was defeated by the Mogul Emperor Aurangazeb. Mir Qumaruddin alias Chin Fateh Khan was appointed as Subedar Farukh Siar who was the Mughal Emperor for a brief tenure conferred on Mir Qumaruddin the title Nizam-ul-Mulk Fateh Jung. The subsequent Moghal Emperor Muhammad Shah bestowed on him the title ASIF JAH.
